Our Programs

The Farm

Beardsley Farm is four acres of urban gardens located in Malcolm-Martin Park, about two miles from downtown Knoxville. The farm grows fruits and vegetables for distribution with the help of volunteers.

Seeds + Seedlings

Beardsley Farm distributes free seeds and plant starts (tomatoes, basil, peppers, and intore) to 1,000 households in Knoxville and Knox County each year. Seedlings are grown on-site in the greenhouse.

New Ground Gardens

Beardsley Community Farm provides space for hundreds of refugee families to grow food each year, as well as culturally appropriate seeds and plants.

Community Gardens

Our Community Gardens program provides residents living in public housing or apartments with the space and resources to grow fresh, healthy produce.

On-Site Education

Beardsley Farm hosts classes and demonstrations for all ages.

School Garden Program

Beardsley provides nutrition and garden education, distributes produce, and maintains on-site gardens at South Knox Elementary & Dogwood Elementary, and the Western Heights Boys and Girls Club.

Fresh Produce Distributions

Beardsley Farm distributes ~40,000 pounds of fresh produce annually, grown on-site and procured from local farms and Second Harvest Food Bank. Produce fills the gap on tables and at pantries when fresh vegetables and fruits are otherwise hard to access.

Events + Outreach

Beardsley hosts free events and fundraisers throughout the year, often in partnership with local restaurants and businesses in Knoxville. We also represent the farm at block parties and neighborhood events, CAC events, volunteer events, and more. Examples include Harvest Festival, the Garden Art Gala, Snow Day, and Dia Del Nino.
