Tracie Hellwinckel August 05 – June 06

Tracie L. Hellwinckel served on Beardsley Community Farm (BCF) for the 2006-2007 AmeriCorps year. After serving on BCF, Tracie went to serve another AmeriCorps year at Habitat for Humanity’s HUG (Habitat Urban Gardens) program teaching gardening and landscape design to Habitat for Humanity homeowners.

In June of 2008, Tracie helped establish the Knoxville Permaculture Guild with husband, Dr. Chad M. Hellwinckel. By the eleventh month, the guild surpassed the 200th member mark with members from all over the United States.

Tracie continues to urban garden focusing on edibles and working to legalize chickens in Knoxville city limits with the Knoxville Permaculture Guild. She writes a monthly online publication entitled The Agrarian Urbanite, which focuses on regenerative urban agriculture, and blogs as the Bohemian Princess, which highlights her creative whims. Her gardening articles have also been featured in the Parkridge Press.
