CAC Beardsley Community Farm 3rd Annual Benefit: Snow Day

The 3rd annual Snow Day, a CAC Beardsley Community Farm Benefit will be hosted at Barley’s Taproom and Pizzeria at 7 pm on Friday, January 21st, 2011. CAC Beardsley Community Farm is Knoxville’s only urban demonstration farm helping to get fresh, healthy, local food to Knoxville’s under served communities. Snow Day will feature seven local bands, a soup contest between some of Knoxville’s finest restaurants, an inaugural Beard Pageant (open to both men and women), and a silent auction. We hope to see you there.

What: Snow Day: A CAC Beardsley Community Farm Benefit

When: Friday, January 21st, 2011, 7 PM- 1AM

Where: Barley’s Taproom and Pizzeria, 200 East Jackson Avenue

Featured Musicians:

Christabel and the Jons, Kevin Abernathy Band, the Vaygues, the Theorizt, Ian Thomas, Mountains of Moss, and the Great Great Pines.

Food: A soup-off featuring some of Knoxville’s finest restaurants including the Bistro at the Bijou, the Crown and Goose, and Coolato Gelato.

What Else?: A silent auction with prizes from over 50 local businesses including Bonnaroo tickets, and CSA shares to Colvin Family Farm and Organicism Farms.

Why: To benefit CAC Beardsley Community Farm and your community. To support sustainable urban agriculture and food justice in Knoxville.

Who: Knoxvillians of all ages. Green and black thumbs alike.

Cost: Admission to Snow Day is $7, and an all-you-can-eat soup ticket is $3

  5. There will be three winners in each category, homegrown and home made. The 1st place winner will receive a gift certificate to Tupelo Honey, movie passes, East TN History Passes, River Sports passes, and a 2013 garden calendar. 2nd place will receive movies passes, East TN History passes, and a Barley’s gift card and 3rd place will receive a Barley’s gift card and East TN movie passes.

  7. Hi Lou, Beardsley Community Farm is named after Beardsley Junior High School, which sits at the current site of the Mobile Meals Kitchen Beyond that I am not sure how Beardsley Junior High School got their name….
