Support your local farmers!

On November , I made a visit Green Man Farm in Washburn, TN, with a group of my friends. Kirsten, Khann, Monika and I drove about an hour to visit Eric Gibian and his family on their farm. Saturday afternoon was cold and gray, the rain came and went, but the wind never stopped. Over 20 other folks made it out to visit the farm, and follow Eric around as he showed us his gardens, as well as introducing us to all of his lovely animals.
Eric shared with us many of the different organic methods he uses to keep his soil heathy which in turn produces healthy plants whose fruits he sells at the Market Square Farmers Market. The majority of his organic produce is organized into baskets which are ready and waiting for his Community Supported Agriculture members to pick up at the Market. Many of the visitors to the farm tour had come to meet Eric and see where and how he grows his food, to decide if they wanted to make the first deposit on their 2009 CSA share.
